For whom

Healthcall for architects and consulting firms

Technical specifications, tender documentation, low-voltage lot coordination, BACnet/KNX compatibility, PoE, RE2020 and accessibility. Healthcall supports architects and healthcare-specialised consulting firms in new-build and renovation of care homes.

What Healthcall brings to architects and consulting firms

You design new-build or renovation projects for care homes. You need a technical partner who delivers tender doc directly usable in your file, who knows the low-voltage standards (RJ45 Cat 6A, PoE 802.3at, BACnet/KNX, ETSI radio standards), and who intervenes upstream from the design phase rather than dropping their constraints at the end of construction. Healthcall is that partner — independent non-manufacturer integrator, vendor-lock-in-free, free design-phase support.

Since 2017, around twenty Belgian care homes have been built or renovated with our framework integrated from preliminary design or detailed design phase. The technical specifications cover wired (RS485 standard), wireless (868 MHz LPWAN), Wi-Fi 6/6E and BLE — without prescribing a closed proprietary protocol.

Six common challenges in MR design projects

The challenges below come up in every project. Healthcall is designed to take them upstream rather than facing them at construction.

  • Producing usable tender doc

Functional, vendor-neutral, technical specifications, sized reservations. Healthcall delivers a Word template, fact sheets in PDF, diagrams in DWG/PDF — directly amendable.

  • Low-voltage / IT lot coordination

PoE, RJ45 Cat 6A, VLAN segmentation, dedicated cable trays, sized VDI rack. Healthcall provides reservation specifications adapted to the low-voltage consulting firm.

  • BMS integration (BACnet, KNX, Modbus)

Pragma zone heating, Shelly building automation, central regulation. Existing BMS interfacing via documented gateway. Exchanges scoped in detailed design phase.

  • Fire and accessibility compliance

NBN S 21-100-1:2025 (fire) interfacing as complement to certified SSI. Doors compliant with PMR accessibility per AViQ standards. Schematics provided to fire-prevention advisor.

  • Existing-bus reuse on renovation

RS485 documented and well-cabled = reusable via gateway. Closed proprietary bus (Televic, Ackermann, Tunstall) = rarely economically reusable. Pre-audit settles the question.

  • Project-stage intervention

Preliminary design → reservations and diagrams from sketch. Detailed design → economic estimate, technical specs. Tender → bidder framework. On site → coordinated lot. Free up to detailed design.

Two sample project profiles

Public new-build, two 60-bed wings

Public client, two 60-bed wings, underground parking, flat photovoltaic roof. Healthcall integration from preliminary design. Structured RS485 backbone pulled during structural works for thirty-year reliability, overlapped with a BLE layer (one beacon per room and per corridor) for presence and automatic action logging, and a 868 MHz layer for emergency call buttons and bathroom pull cords. UniFi Wi-Fi PoE (802.3at) on dedicated VLAN for DECT Snom and supervision. Shelly building automation as complement to Pragma heating regulation. Post-intervention dossier delivered with service continuity diagram (868 MHz fallback in case of Wi-Fi outage).

Renovation extension on existing facility

New 40-bed extension connected to an existing 90-bed building equipped with Healthcall since 2019. The consulting firm integrates the new wing on the same local server and the same supervision. Structured RJ45 Cat 6A cabling in the extension, PoE 802.3at for Wi-Fi-, smartphone- and DECT-access points, additional 868 MHz gateways, BLE mesh dimensioned on plan. Single-mode fibre link between existing building and extension. No modification to existing fleet — the extension joins the already-present ecosystem.

What a Healthcall partnership brings

The partnership is informal in design phase: technical exchanges, free document supply, design-quality validation.

  • Tender doc and diagrams

Word template + DWG/PDF diagrams + bill of materials. Free from preliminary design. Amendable, vendor-neutral, ready for tender.

  • Equipment fact sheets

Detailed technical sheets per equipment (868 MHz gateway, Wi-Fi PoE access point, BLE beacon, Shelly module, 3CX central, smartphone/DECT), electrical reservations, patch racks, per-lot inventory. BMS/SSI/HVAC interfaces documented.

  • Single technical contact

Dedicated technical project manager throughout the design phase. From preliminary design to tender, single contact who knows your project — not a generic catalogue interlocutor.

  • Acceptance and post-intervention dossier

Certifications, conformity declarations, schematics. Direct upload to the post-intervention dossier. AViQ + fire advisor compliance covered. Feedback loop to your team for next projects.

Frequently asked questions

Do you provide tender documentation directly usable in our project file?
Yes. On written request from a consulting firm engaged on an MR project, we provide a neutral tender doc template in Word format, PDF technical sheets per equipment, integration diagrams in DWG or vector PDF format, and a per-lot bill of materials. The template is written in functional formulations and open standards, with no proprietary mention, to allow real competitive bidding. We accept that you freely amend it.
What requirements on the network/low-voltage lot?
Requirements are modest in wireless renovation (one 230 V supply per 868 MHz gateway, ideally on UPS), more structured in new-build: dedicated low-current cable trays, RJ45 Cat 6A at Wi-Fi and DECT-IP access point locations, PoE 802.3at minimum on the access switch, sized 19-inch VDI rack, inter-building fibre link for multi-site facilities. A reservation tender doc template is provided by us to the low-voltage consulting firm.
Are you BACnet or KNX compatible for BMS?
Yes per scope. Healthcall professional building automation interfaces with an existing BMS via Modbus TCP or KNX (depending on lot and equipment). Pragma zone heating supports Modbus natively. For full BACnet integration (building with structured BMS), we go through a dedicated gateway on SSI side and HVAC side. Exchanges are documented in detailed design phase.
PoE or local power for field equipment?
Both coexist. PoE 802.3af/at powers Wi-Fi access points, DECT-IP base stations, IP intercoms and cameras. Call buttons and wireless sensors (868 MHz, BLE) run on long-life cells (5 to 10 years on 868 MHz, 1 to 5 years on BLE). Shelly building automation modules are powered at 230 V in existing flush boxes. 868 MHz gateways are powered at 230 V, ideally on network UPS.
What certifications on your partner equipment?
All our partner equipment is CE-marked, compliant with directive RED 2014/53/EU, with ETSI standards EN 300 220 (868 MHz), EN 300 328 (2.4 GHz BLE/Wi-Fi) and EN 301 893 (5 GHz Wi-Fi), with LVD and EMC directives. We relay on request manufacturer CE declarations, datasheets and radio compliance certificates. Ubiquiti UniFi equipment is FCC and CE certified, 3CX is GDPR-native compliant, Shelly modules are CE and RED compliant.
Can existing bus cabling be kept during a renovation?
Sometimes, depending on protocol. Standard, well-cabled and documented RS485 is interfaceable via protocol gateway. A closed proprietary bus (some Televic, Ackermann, Tunstall generations) is rarely economically reusable. The pre-audit settles the question with a quoted recommendation: partial reuse, total removal, or transitional coexistence during a phasing.
At what project stage do you intervene?
Ideally in preliminary design, to integrate reservations and diagrams from the sketch. Otherwise, in detailed design remains efficient. In tender phase, we provide the tender doc template and an indicative economic estimate. On site, we intervene as a coherent lot coordinated by your project manager. Our intervention in the design phase is free — we consider that properly setting a project upstream avoids extra costs and rework downstream.
