About Healthcall

Groovit has been publishing Healthcall in Frasnes-lez-Anvaing since 2017: a nurse call ecosystem for around twenty Belgian care homes, open architecture, private cluster in Belgium.

Why Healthcall exists

Historical nurse call systems were almost all designed for the hospital. Their features, ergonomics and economic model respond to acute service logic: rapid patient turnover, specialised teams, heavy infrastructure, centralised maintenance. Transposed to care homes, these systems often become oversized, rigid and costly to evolve.

Yet care home needs have followed their own trajectory. Increasing resident dependency, cognitive frailty, pressure on teams, regulatory requirement, transparency expected by families — all of this draws a distinct trade, with its own tools. Classic systems have not followed this evolution. They settled for cosmetic adaptations.

Healthcall was born of this finding. After several years spent listening to carers, head nurses, residence directors, technical teams and residents, we made the choice to build a solution thought from the start for the MR universe. Not a degraded hospital product. Not a button catalogue to sell. A modular, open ecosystem that adapts to the reality of a building, a team, a budget.

Groovit SRL formalised this approach by founding Healthcall in Frasnes-lez-Anvaing in 2017. First care home installed the same year. The rest was built client by client, with no external funding.

Our approach: Detection → Decision → Action

Three simple gestures that structure every feature.

  • Detection

    A button pressed, a fall detected, a door crossed, a resident identified in a sensitive zone. Each event is captured by the suitable equipment — wired or wireless, BLE, Wi-Fi, 868 MHz — depending on what fits the building. Verifiable, timestamped, unambiguous data.

  • Decision

    A raw event is not enough. The ecosystem structures information: priority, context, resident history, location, carer availability. The right decision emerges from the right reading.

  • Action

    The alert goes to the right person, on the right medium — pro smartphone, DECT, corridor signal lamp, duty station — at the right moment. No alert flooding. No dispersion. Attention focuses where it counts.

Five principles guiding Healthcall

  • Communication

    Smooth between residents, carers and families. Each piece of information finds its recipient without friction, without re-entry, without loss along the way.

  • Knowledge

    Capture daily data, structure it, restore it readably. An event, a figure, a trend — each must feed tomorrow's decision.

  • Integration

    Interface with the existing rather than replace it. Already-deployed telephony, existing access control, partly installed building automation: we compose with, we do not start from scratch.

  • Optimisation

    Reduce unnecessary movements, false alerts, repetitive tasks. Free up care time — the most precious resource of a care home.

  • Reaction

    Alert the right person at the right moment. Neither earlier nor later. Neither too broad nor too narrow. The available carer, not the entire team.

    Twelve software and hardware modules deployable independently or in combination, depending on each residence's priorities. Open architecture, no closed catalogue.

  • Non-manufacturer, by deliberate choice

    We integrate the best market equipment — IoT, telephony, network, building automation — rather than defending an in-house catalogue. This independence protects our clients from lock-in and imposed obsolescence.

  • Belgian hosting by choice

    premium private cluster in Belgium or local server at the client. Health data never leaves Belgian territory. Each residence chooses its mode per its regulatory constraints.

  • 4 major updates per year, included

    No evolution surcharge, no version migration billed. The first MR installed in 2017 receive today the same features as the most recent.

  • Two-day install, no disruption

    Equipment pre-configured in workshop, deployment coordinated with teams, zero service interruption for residents. Your team continues to work normally during install.

  • Independent non-manufacturer integrator

Healthcall relies on an ecosystem of specialised technology partners, selected for their seriousness, stability and compatibility with an open architecture. We receive no compensation linked to volume of equipment sold: we recommend what fits the residence, not what maximises our margin. If better equipment emerges, we integrate it — without waiting for an internal five-year product cycle.

Healthcall has been equipping around twenty Belgian care homes since 2017, of 30 to 150 beds, securing the daily life of approximately 1,250 residents. Independent publisher based in Frasnes-lez-Anvaing, Groovit develops Healthcall on its own funds, with no external financing — our only shareholder is our clients’ satisfaction. Over eight years of activity, only one facility has left us. Open architecture with no proprietary hardware, high-availability private cluster hosted in Belgium, triple database in mirroring, native GDPR compliance, four major updates included per year.
