What is the Healthcall ecosystem?
The Healthcall ecosystem is a modular software suite for Belgian care homes, published by Groovit since 2017 in Frasnes-lez-Anvaing. It covers 14 critical functions of MR daily life, distributed across 3 families: resident safety, communication, management and infrastructure. Each module installs independently or in combination with the others, with no integration surcharge, no double entry, no costly migration. Healthcall today equips around twenty facilities of 30 to 150 beds, securing the daily life of approximately 1,250 residents.
The ecosystem rests on 2 founding choices. First, an open architecture: Groovit is not a manufacturer, does not sell its own hardware and integrates partner equipment chosen per each residence’s needs, Blueup, Samsung XCover, Crosscall Core, CAT S, Sonim XP, Snom, 3CX, Shelly, Ubiquiti, Doro, Grandstream, Ajax, Pragma, Sonitor, Lehmann. Second, an affirmed technological independence: you are not prisoner of a proprietary catalogue, you do not undergo imposed obsolescence, you keep hand on your hardware choices.
The whole runs locally on a server present in your MR, synchronised with a high-availability private cluster hosted in Belgium at a Belgian premium host, with triple database in mirroring and native GDPR compliance. 4 major updates are included each year, with no evolution surcharge and no stuck software generation: a facility installed in 2017 today enjoys the same functional level as a facility installed in 2026. The ecosystem deploys in 2 days for a standard configuration.

Resident safety, prevent, detect, locate
The first mission of a care home is the physical safety of its residents. 3 Healthcall modules cover the most frequent risks: wandering by disoriented residents, falls, and real-time location tracking. Each relies on passive sensors and Bluetooth Low Energy beacons, no permanent intrusive device is imposed on the resident.
-
Wandering prevention
Discreet BLE wristband on the resident, beacons at doors, lifts and sensitive transit points. Precise alert, room, door, time, on the terminal (smartphone or DECT) of the nearest carer. Configuration per resident profile, floor, time slot. [Module →](/en/solutions/wandering-prevention)
-
Fall detection
Sonitor sensors in rooms and bathrooms, embedded intelligence to distinguish real fall from brief movement. No wristband to wear, no button to press. Escalation if no handover in 30 seconds. [Module →](/en/solutions/fall-detection)
-
Resident geolocation
Indoor BLE + outdoor GPS for gardens and secured exteriors. Real-time building plan, history, custom zones per resident. Useful for safety, call routing and team reassurance. [Module →](/en/solutions/resident-tracking)
Communication, smooth exchanges without replacing them
Exchanges between residents, carers, families and management are the daily material in MR. 6 Healthcall modules structure these exchanges without ever replacing human contact: they smooth, trace and prioritise. The pillar module, nurse call, is the software heart around which four interpersonal communication channels (carer phone, resident phone, IP intercom, in-room TV) and one collective communication channel (common-area digital signage) revolve.
-
Nurse call (pillar module)
The software heart. Eleven sub-functions: login/logout, action logging, handover, presence, signal lamp, time clock, dashboard, reports, night round, emergency button, news. Open architecture Blueup, Lehmann, Ajax. Foundation of the thirteen other modules. [Module →](/en/solutions/nurse-call)
-
Carer phone
Professional Android smartphone or DECT, or mix. Native 3CX, Snom, Grandstream, Doro integration. Single carer terminal: internal/external calls, Healthcall alerts, action logging, news. No more dual equipment. [Module →](/en/solutions/carer-phone)
-
Resident phone
Doro phones with shortcut keys configured per resident, hearing aid compatibility, group billing. Centralised line, no individual operator contract. [Module →](/en/solutions/resident-phone)
-
IP intercom
Corridor intercoms, room entry or main entrance, integrated into the same system as nurse call. Visualisation on smartphone or DECT, remote opening, logging. Grandstream, Snom IP compatibility. [Module →](/en/solutions/intercom)
-
In-room TV
Hospitality TV from LG, Samsung or Philips natively integrated with nurse call, family video calling and room automation. Configuration per resident profile (favourite channels, language, subtitles), hardware included, Belgian hosting. [Module →](/en/solutions/tv-room)
-
Common-area digital signage
HDMI players on consumer TVs in hall, restaurant and common rooms. Daily menus, birthdays, activities sourced from the resident record and the Healthcall agenda. Fire alerts synchronised with nurse call, Public Address audio announcements. [Module →](/en/solutions/tv-common-areas)
Management and infrastructure, pilot, secure, optimise
Behind care, the daily management of a care home requires tools to pilot, trace and optimise. 5 Healthcall modules cover this dimension: a hub module (central supervision) and 4 operational modules (access control, scheduled care, professional building automation, technical task management).
-
Central supervision (hub module)
Single screen for the whole ecosystem: calls, falls, wandering, rounds, fire/intrusion alarms, accesses. Day/night auto-switch, multi-station, configurable indicators. Cockpit of your safety. [Module →](/en/solutions/central-supervision)
-
Access control
Badges, codes, BLE wristband with profile + schedule + zone. Native integration with intercom, wandering prevention, fire panel. Tracing for security audit and AViQ inspection. [Module →](/en/solutions/access-control)
-
Scheduled care
Individualised plan, 4 canonical moments, action logging in 3 sec on smartphone or DECT, AViQ/Iriscare/Zorginspectie compliance reports. Integration with the resident medical record. Traceability per royal decree. [Module →](/en/solutions/scheduled-care)
-
Professional building automation
Lighting, zone heating, blinds, fire emergency scenarios. Open Shelly, Pragma, Sonitor equipment. Energy savings + non-dependence with the SSI. [Module →](/en/solutions/professional-building-automation)
A fifth operational module, technical task management, lets carers declare faults from their phone, route to the right technician, track external providers, aggregate costs per asset. Module →

Care home with multiple Healthcall touch points: signal lamp, smartphone, supervision station, BLE beacon
Open partner architecture
Healthcall is not a manufacturer. We integrate market equipment chosen per care home need:
- IoT and sensors, Blueup (BLE beacons), Lehmann (medical buttons), Pragma (environment sensors), Sonitor (ultrasound), Ajax (anti-intrusion), Shelly (building automation)
- Telephony, 3CX (IP central), Samsung XCover, Crosscall Core, CAT S, Sonim XP (professional Android smartphones), Snom, Grandstream, Doro (DECT and terminals)
- Network, Ubiquiti UniFi (Wi-Fi access points, PoE switches, segmentation routing)
- Hosting, Belgian premium host, private cluster, triple database mirroring
This open architecture is your protection: if a partner abandons a model or raises its prices, we can substitute without rebuilding the system. You are not prisoner of a vendor lock-in.
Modular and progressive deployment
The ecosystem is designed to start with one module, typically the pillar nurse call, then extend at your pace. Adding fall detection on a system in production is a half-day operation. Adding wandering prevention is comparable. Adding professional building automation takes a bit more time depending on perimeter scope, but requires no software migration.
This extension requires neither overhaul, nor dual cabling, nor integration surcharge. Each module shares the same technical base: 868 MHz wireless network or Wi-Fi, BLE beacons, local server, smartphones pro or DECT, unified interface. The 4 annual major updates apply to all modules at once, with no version evolution cost.

Operational transparency, verifiable in real time
A reliability promise only matters if it can be measured. Most legacy nurse call vendors (Ascom, Televic, Legrand Care, Aperi) do not publish a public service status: a customer suspecting an outage has to call support to obtain information that cannot be audited. Healthcall does the opposite.
The Healthcall service status is publicly accessible, no authentication required. The page shows in real time the health of the aggregated customer fleet, the 13 business functions (nurse call, wandering prevention, fall detection, etc.), the Groovit platform (Belgian private cluster, database, API, supervision) and a 90-day history. Data refreshes every 60 seconds from our operational probes, not from a communications script.
This transparency is consistent with the product’s core promise: 8 years in production, 1 single customer departure in 8 years, 4 major updates per year at no extra cost. If we publish these numbers, we also publish the metric underpinning them.
For care home directors negotiating an SLA: the status page serves as an objective shared reference between Groovit and the customer, outside incident periods. It is also the first place to check before opening a support ticket.
