Healthcall digital signage equips the common areas of the nursing home (restaurant, reception hall, corridors and landings, activity rooms, multipurpose lounges) with screens driven from the Healthcall ecosystem.

Unlike hospitality signage solutions transposed into nursing homes, content is not isolated from the care profession: birthdays come from the resident record, activities from the Healthcall agenda, fire alerts from the nurse call system, “to the table” audio announcements use the Healthcall Public Address channel. At 11:45 in the nursing home restaurant, the main screen displays the daily menu in HD photo: Basque chicken, rice, ratatouille, gluten-free alternative “steamed cod fillet” for concerned residents (automatic display per resident record). At 11:55, coordinated audio announcement on all building screens equipped with Public Address: “Lunch service is open”. In the musical background, gentle ambiance managed by the Healthcall Music Streamer module.

Wednesday 15:00, birthday in the floor corridor

Wednesday 15:00. It’s Mrs Verhulst’s birthday, room 22. The information comes from the resident record, with no intervention from the activity coordinator. On the two corridor screens, a kindly slideshow loops for three days: smiling photo of Mrs Verhulst (with her recorded consent), first name, message “Happy birthday Mrs Verhulst”. No input was required. The system has known the date since admission.

Wednesday 19:27, evacuation test trigger

Scheduled evacuation test. At 19:27, the safety officer triggers the test from Healthcall admin. Instantly, on all building screens (hall, restaurant, corridors, common rooms, and all room TVs), red overlay: “Fire evacuation test, instruction: follow staff to the nearest exit”. Coordinated audio announcement on screens with sound. Traceability: the test is timestamped, archived, exportable for authorities (AViQ, fire brigade).

Monday 09:30, the activity coordinator schedules the week

Monday 09:30. The activity coordinator opens Healthcall admin from his tablet. He drags the week’s activities into the calendar: memory workshop Tuesday 14:00, cinema session Wednesday 15:00, market outing Thursday 10:00, concert Sunday 16:00. In one click, content is deployed to all relevant screens: hall (week view), corridors (day reminder), animation rooms (room schedule).

Frequently asked questions

Are special TVs needed for common areas?
No. Healthcall players plug into HDMI on any consumer TV. Existing TVs can be kept. For new installations, a recent consumer TV with HDMI input is sufficient. Significant savings versus proprietary hospitality signage solutions.
What is the difference between in-room TV and common-area TV?
Different hardware (professional hospitality TV for rooms vs Pi player or mini-PC plugged in via HDMI on consumer TV for common areas), different use (individual resident life vs collective signage), shared management from Healthcall admin. Both modules share the same database and the same business logic.
Can music be broadcast in addition to image?
Yes, via the Healthcall Music Streamer module, natively integrated. Different musical ambiance per zone (restaurant, lounge, activity room), with hourly schedule and library of senior-adapted playlists.
How are corridor birthdays sourced?
From the resident record, with no manual intervention from the activity coordinator. Resident consent is respected: a resident refusing public birthday display can deactivate this option in their record.
How are the activities displayed in the hall sourced?
From the Healthcall agenda, populated by direct input from the activity coordinator from Healthcall admin, or by calendar import if the facility uses a third-party animation management tool. One input, multiple screens populated.
Can the daily menu be broadcast with photos?
Yes. Catalogue of menu templates, weekly calendar, customizable photos or Healthcall visual library. Allergens and regime alternatives shown automatically per resident record.
How does the system react in case of fire alarm?
Automatic red overlay on all building screens (hall, restaurant, corridors, common rooms, and all room TVs), accompanied by a coordinated audio announcement on screens with sound. Complement to NBN S 21-100 compliant evacuation devices, does not replace the compliant evacuation sound system.
Do the screens turn off at night?
Yes, on/off scheduling per zone. Automatic energy saving at night, weekends or during closing periods of certain spaces.
How are players monitored?
Real-time admin view: online/offline status of each player, CPU load, temperature, last sync. Automatic alert to the technical team if a player remains silent for more than fifteen minutes during active hours.
Can a HDMI or Chromecast presentation mode be broadcast in a meeting room?
Roadmap evolution. For occasional presentation use, direct connection to the TV remains possible (the Healthcall player can be temporarily disabled).
What is the cost per screen or per player?

How long does installation take?

Can screens be added progressively?

Is there a limit to the number of players?
In practice, no, on the standard architecture. For very large buildings (multi-sites, more than fifty players), a dedicated 'Multi-stream encoder head-end' module is available.
What hosting for signage content?
